I recently installed Cinestyle on my 550D using the recommended camera settings and the results are what the website said they would be. I like the results that I see after even simple post processing however I wonder if anyone has any tips or recommendations to further enhance the final results. My 5D unfortunately is not recognized by the EOS Utility so I used the T2i.

welcome John, excuse someone still stuck a bit in the film era but what is cinestyle and what program do you use for it.
Now back to your problem, may I suggest you direct your question at Johnsey as he is knowledgeable in that area.

You have a 5d Mark 1? If so yes I believe you are out of luck, EOS Utlity 1.x is not even on the canon website anymore easily accessible. There are EOS Utlity 2 and 3 versions on the site and you can install and have them live in harmony on your computer, because they support different camera models that are still widely used so canon has them play nice together. Version 2 was last updated back in 2015 to EOS Utility 2.14.20a so I am not sure why the technicolor website says user v2.6 of the utility.
I can not help troubleshooting installing the profile on an old camera as I have not modded the firmware installed on mine. But if you can track down a late version 1 of the EOS Utility you may be able to push a profile to your 5dmk1.
It may be easier to find a profile for your editing software to apply the same type of effects in post production, that would typically be the way I would approach the situation, and trust me I am all for getting things right in camera being I came up shooting film. :)

Craig the best way to reference the Technicolor process would be to visit their website to download the free software which should work with Macs and Windows puters. Cinestyle Download | Technicolor This process has been around since about 1922 and I've known about it since the 1950s !! Until just recently I equated it with movie film only. It is a small download. Once downloaded just unzip the file and the pdf with it that details a very simple installation. My 5D is the MK0 (0=old) so it is not recognized by the EOS utility which is needed to install it into the camera. I dumped the file into the 550D with no problem. In either CR or jpeg the results are flat and desaturated which is to be expected. For a start open the image in any post processor that will allow color correction using the simple eyedropper method. The net step is to put your creativity do the test.

Johnsey I replied to Craig S. first since he used the ancient and venerable term "FILM". My 5D is old and I'm not about to part with it even with its small quirks. The image is very filmlike at 12.8 megapixels, being a little soft compared to the newer cameras out there. One of my first cameras was a 120 film format motorized wide angle surveillance camera from ls U.S. aircraft that I acquired in the late 1950s when I was still in high school.

Sounds good, I by no means think you should part with a 5dmk1, if I had one or could pic one up dirt cheap I would. I still put more reps on my mk2 just because its more of the beater DSLR now. It was not my first camera but my most mileage camera is my Pentax 67ii, and i am sure they used the early models in military surveillance as well , they were built like a tank.
I was more focused on the software version of 2.6 which does not make much sense to me, 2.14 is the last version of the 2.x utility mac or windows. There is a EOS 3.x version for the newest cameras but again that is not lining up with versioning of 2.6.
In any event I simply said it may be possible to make the old utility that pairs with the 5d1 work but it is not supported and you would put the camera at risk. hence the safer suggestion that you could find cinestyle looking presets for Lightroom or what ever editor you are working with.

A note on replying, when you click it auto quotes the message you reply to, then you can type a reply outside the quotes and post in in a single post. See below... as a moderator I cleaned up the2 blank reply's and 2 posts from 4 down to 2 as you probably intended to do.

Thanks John and Johnsey after readiing what you have put up, I think I can understand this process as being like the old Techniclolour movies and the style of colour they used, I will have a look later at the software later, again thanks.
