I just purchased this off eBay and I can't see the red focus point but at times I see a red blob.
Ok, here is my thinking.. the focus screen looks like it has been changed. It is crystal clear with no marking what so ever.
Could it be that I do not see the red focus points because the screen has been changed?
I have tried resetting the focus screen, factory reset the camera, changed batteries and brands of batteries... You name it, I tried it.
The camera is mint and is beautiful...
I got a refund and was able to keep the camera and I love it and works amazing minus the focus dots, squares.. whatever ya call them. I do not even see the black focus box markings
    Can anyone help?

Does the camera have a small focusing knob for the viewfinder? If so, have you had a play around with that?

Also, is it possible just to get an orginal screen and refit it?

With my other Canons.. I can see the focus points in black.. then when I focus I see a red point. This camera has a crystal clear focus screen.. super clear. I get the green focus confirmation and beep but I seen no focus points what so ever... Black or red.

Welcome to the Forum, Evertking, does the red focus points or the blob, show up on your images. My thinking is along the line of there may be something loose in the camera and causing the blurring of one of your focus point. such as a particle of light sealant etc.
If this is the case, you may need to remove the top of the camera and clean it.

I have no experience with Canon film cameras so I will leave it to others to offer help.
