I am a bit concerned as to why an exclamation mark is showing on the Spot Focus symbol on the camera settings screen as shown on the image. Can anyone help out as to why this is showing? Many thanks in advance.

    Hi Isac,
I found this. I hope it helps.

Basically it doesn't mean that the camera is about to explode or anything, but rather is alerting you that your camera is setup to shoot in a way that you MAY not intend (black and white for instance), so, if you see that warning sign, you better double or even triple check ALL your settings (ISO, color balance, metering pattern, picture style, etc.) or you might have a bit of a nasty surprise when you download your images ;-) .

Cheers Ray - appreciated. I reser to factory, cleared ALL my own presets and still see the exclamation mark. I'm still not sure why it's still there.

I'm sorry that my search did not help. I hope you get an answer. Maybe give Canon a call.

To call Canon is a last resort for me Ray. I don't seem to get much help from them. I've posted on the Canon Community Forum so I'll see what happens. The warning doesn't seem to be a problem - everything seems to be operational, I'm just puzzled as to why it's there.

All fixed folks. It's in the Warnings ! in Viewfinder settings in the Camera Settings (C.Fn3:Disp./Operation).

That is good to hear. Fixed it yourself and without the need to call Canon.
My cousin has a 7DII and I tried helping her with some settings and the number of settings in its menus made my head spin compared to the very simple menus in my 1Ds. But there are a lot of years and developments between those two cameras.

Cheers Ray. I love the 7Dii after having the 7D. IQ is so much better, but like you say, a bit of a head spin with so many menu options. I think some of them are really not necessary. Thanks for your comments.
