zooming in/out

    Hi,I feel really stupid asking this. In af mode do I still have to turn the lens myself? or should the camera do it for me. By this I mean to get closer to subject etc. Sorry for the stupid question. I have a canon 250d. Thanks Mandy

    Welcome to the forum, Mandy, a question is only stupid if you don't ask and lean from it.
    I suggest you go onto youtube and check out what they have there on your camera.
    Next sit down with the camera and follow along, the more you handle and play around with it the more you will learn and enjoy photography.
    Any more questions, there is always someone here on the forum willing to help.

    Welcome to the forum. I have been using SLRs and DSLRs since 1975 and there is always something to learn. It won't all sink in on day 1. It is an ongoing process.

    No need to feel that you are asking a silly question, we have all been at the start of a learning curve at some point. I am not sure what lens came with your camera, but zooming is down to you and is done manually. So if you have a 18-55 as an example, if you turn the zoom ring towards 55mm, you will be able to exclude subjects from your image, and if you rotate the zoom ring the other way towards 18mm, you will be able to include more subjects in your image. You choose the focal length, not the camera. To focus, just press the shutter button.
