    A little Canon stuff
It has been a while since I have used my camera. Life has just been far too busy. But this weekend, I had high hopes of at least getting some images. For once, I checked that I had everything I needed, and I even went as far as to fully charge the battery.

Ever since I started out with photography I have pretty well stuck with AV as my exposure of choice, and if the lighting is a little tricky, I go straight to manual. So I saw this sight I thought was pleasing to the eye, I quickly grabbed my camera, and got of a shot, and then the sun disappeared behind a cloud, and the image was gone. I was feeling pretty happy with myself until I reviewed the image, I then discovered that I had left my camera on manual exposure and my image that I had taken was grossly over exposed. Note to self, always reset your camera back to your default setting once you have finished shooting for the day.

For what it is worth, this is what I was trying to shoot. The evening light was coming through the haze and the tree was casting a nice shadow.

Is there anyone else willing to share their "I stuffed up" stories?

Gary, what is there to be ashamed about, you have taken bigger steps in the photography world by using manual, so you forgot to go back to AV.
You have learned something that someone who takes it safe all the time will never learn and this will improve your photography and make you a better photographer.
A possible fix will be to put it into Photoshop and have a go.
Keep up with what you are doing you can only improve.

I hope you don't mind but I grabbed a copy of your photo and put it into Photoshop , converted it into a black and white, seems to have improved it a bit, may be should have cropped it a bit too, what do you think.

This was my second go at it in colour, using Photoshop in the image column, I used Auto colour, Auto tone and Auto contrast, seems to have fixed it even more than black and white. The photo come up a lot better as a higher JPEG as this one is small to put it on the forum.
If you have the Raw file you may even get better results.

It happens to everyone, Personally I have multiple times forgot to put ISO back to 100 or 200 after cranking it way up for something specific and realize halfway through whatever I am shooting that next time.

    Hi Craig,

I think it is more frustration than anything else. No worries about having a play around with the file. I'll post the straight jpeg conversion from the RAW file. Not is all lost, as I should be back out this location this up and coming weekend. Just so long as we have the same weather conditions I should be good for attempt number two.
