Accidentally dropped the camera and now there is a huge spot across the screen with pixelated edges. The size and shape of this spot does not change from image to image and is present on images that were taken prior to the camera being dropped. The size and shape of the spot on the screen does not change when zooming in or out and is not present in the images that have now been downloaded to my computer (for all of those about to tell me it's the sensor or computer). I realize the screen is damaged, but I'm wondering what actually occurred and how much fixing it might be. I contacted the repair center already and they are pretty vague without having a look.

Anyone out there know anything about this?

Well, dropping the camera would be enough of an impact to mess up the liquid crystal in the LCD, honestly if it took a hard hit its amazing that is all that broke. I'm not sure if any of us have sent away for a new screen, but I looked on amazon and you can buy aftermarket screens there for different cameras for 30-40 bucks for the do it yourself person or small repair shop. Canon will charge more for the actual canon brand part I am sure, and I imagine it is safe to figure they will charge an hour of labor. So on the low end you probably would be charged $150-200 and that is just a rough estimate as each camera is a bit different, I wouldn't be surprised if it was quite a bit more.
