Our house had a major extension in 1637 and this is probably when the front door we now have was fitted. This is the original (no longer used) keyhole escutchion and flap.

1637, that's crazy. Do you know how old the house is?

The house is originally mediaeval - we shall never get a precise date, but probably c. 1400
