Trying to connect Cannon SX620 HS to my computer via NBN. E ntered password but camera can't find device which is 30 cm away. The device is a Telstra Modem with NBN to node and Wi-Fi.

I may not be able to be as helpful as someone else with a newer bridge camera or lower end DSLR, my mark2 is not wireless and my mark 4 does not have these connection options, in my case my laptop connects to the camera broadcasting its own wifi point. But the wireless router will need to have some specs for this to work:
    Wi-Fi Specifications:IEEE802.11b/g/nFrequency: 2.4 GHz Channels: 1 – 11 Security:WEP,WPA-PSK(AES/TKIP),WPA2-PSK(AES/TKIP)NFC

Generally devices like wireless cameras and printers will only connect through WPS, this is either a physical button on the device or a software option somewhere in the menus of the firmware of the router. Mine is the latter, and how I got my two canon printers to connect to wifi. You'll see this process around page 96/97 of your manual. http://gdlp01.c-wss.com/gds/2/0300023632/01/pssx620hs-cu-en.pdf

Thanks johnsey for this. I am trying to connect my camera. It is only a few months old. I have a Telstra Smart Modem Gen2. I can't find a WPS button on it. I entered the password for the modem into the camera. The camera tries to locate the modem which is sitting 30 cm away. Does not find the device. Everything else in the house works fine on Wi-Fi or LAN (TV and Mobile Phone and Printer other computers). I have no idea about the specification of the modem. It works automatically on both 2.5 and 5GHz. I have looked in my modem and it sees the camera but the camera says "device not found". It is working on 2.5 GHz. -42dBm and 65 Mpbs.

Quick google search showed that some models of your router have the WPS in the router UI. https://crowdsupport.telstra.com.au/t5/home-broadband/wps-button/m-p/755446 I have not heard of telstra until now, but modems/routers all work basically the same.

Again there are devices like your camera or certain printers that need a special handshake to be initiated on the router saying that there is wireless connection trying to be established, that is how WPS works, you initiate via a button on the router, or in the firmware, and you have 2 min to establish the connection for security purposes. If the camera does not find the router as an access point, it means that it will only allow the router via WPS.

    Solved.
You can't transfer pictures from Cannon camera to Computer.
You can only do it to a phone or tablet.
    You need an app.
Just have to use the memory card.to transfer.

    Thanks for your help.
