I found one of these in a pawnbroker's shop yesterday, more or less unused and priced about £15 less than I've seen them on eBay etc., so naturally I bought it. I've been really busy today (and will be for the next week or so) so haven't had a chance to take a good set of test photos, my first feeling with a few random shots around the house is that it's very sharp but somehow doesn't inspire me much. But that's VERY tentative, I probably won't be able to take it out properly until the end of the month. Anyone else got one and have any thoughts?
Apparently the Yonguo is better than the Canon equivilent lens too! I'm going to have to pick one up and try them out.
I have read that the auto focus leave something to be desired on the Yongnuo, resulting in quite a number of missed focus shots with shallow depth of field. It does look to be sharper wide open than the canon however when you do nail focus, so you would want to shoot more frames to compensate. Stopped down a bit seems like the canon is the better choice with better focus and CA. But for the price either of them are pretty nice. That said I upgraded to the Canon 1.4 several years back which I would wholeheartedly recommend.
REALLY can't afford the 1.4 at present. I think I noticed the focus thing on one picture I took when I tested the lens on Saturday, I have some "standard" subjects I use when I test lenses, and it was fine on the distant one (a church a couple of hundred yards away) and on a coin at minimum focal distance, but well out on the middle range one, some ivy growing about 12ft from my back window. But I was really rushed when I took the test shots, this is unfortunately the week from hell due to a load of things that have all come up at the same time (including the birth of a grand-nephew, another family birthday, a long-standing commitment to host a book club meeting which means I have to clean my flat, Photobucket's jihad against their customers, etc. etc.) so I will have to get back to it next week and take it out to see what it can do.
my yongnuo 50 1.8 focuses pretty fast except in low or mixed light, but my experience was similar with the canon 50mm 1.8 STM and the old canon 50mm 1.8. that being said, judging by user reviews, there's a lot of sample variation, so some focus better than others.
Took it out to Kensington Gardens in London today and got some pictures of scenery, plants, statues, etc. Actually pretty good, there was one picture of berries that was slightly out of focus but I think I may have simply got a little closer than the minimum for the lens when I took it. https://flic.kr/s/aHskZyx37y

Yes, that was a nice interesting lump on that tree - I was hoping to find some interesting fungi too, but it's probably a little dry at present. Now that I've tried it some more I quite like it, much more than I expected.
