    Hi,
I have a Contax III with a Sonnar 1.5 lens. (a) is there any point in trying to fit it to my Canon EOS 70D,
and (b) if so, does anyone know of any adapters that would make it possible.
    Thanks

This the lens your referring to?

Then you just need the second adapter to be Leica M to EF instead of R. You may not be able to focus to infinity with this setup I imagine, and it would be full manual of course. Others her adapt lenses and may have a better idea how well this setup would work, i don't mix my old and new lenses and cameras at all.

    Hi,
Thanks for taking the trouble to reply to such a minor request. I first started with a 1/4 plate camera, then a Braun Paxette; various Olympus
models: and now the Contax and several Contaflex models just to look at, and admire. I appreciate the info, but feel that the total cost of obtaining the adapters might not justify it. Now well into my 80's and long since retired!

    Quick Google translate....
I started photography about 6 or 7 years ago, I bought my first SLR and for lenses I have a whole collection of old film lenses to start with and I can tell you that your lens will be excellent for portraits with an extra bokeh... And by closing the diaphragm a bit, you should have superb image quality... Even for color rendering, it's Zeiss, its reputation is ahead of it. I don't yet have a lens like yours because it's very sought after and a bit expensive for my budget, but all the tests I've seen say it's excellent...
    Good picture to you.

    Hello,
Thanks for your interest. I certainly intend trying to use the 1.5 lens with my Canon lens - and the appropriate adaptor.
I'm not confident to use the Contax itself. It's a couple of years older than me!

Welcome, Clive to the forum. putting analog lenses on a digital camera is a big part of the enjoyment we get out of photography. Your camera does not come with a matte screen used to assist focus as in the film cameras but use the live view screen on the back of your 70D and press the + button 2 times, located on the right hand upper corner of your camera. This will allow you to zoom into the image on the screen to aid your focus, to return to normal view press the + button a 3rd time.
One last thing is you will need to put your camera in Manual or aperture priority.

Welcome to the forum, Kernane, you have a very nice lens there and the camera looks in a very nice condition. Do you use the camera or is it a display piece in a collection.
