Very interesting Gary, unfortunately every time I go out to take night images of the sky it is clouded over, Summer is on it's way so hopefully better nights ahead.

Down here at the bottom of the earth in Tasmania, we are just heading into the opposite, sunny days and hopefully some clear nights.

Very nice Gary. Nice and sharp and great colours. I don't get to see this very often - too much light pollution in the city and suburbs.

    Thanks Kevin.

    Thanks. Just the single image.

Thanks Craig. Over here we have had 9 low pressure systems in a row, and we have another one arriving on Sunday. I can't remember when we last had a settled few days of clear weather. This one was snapped midweek. We got home from work and the skies were cloudless, I gathered my gear together, and got a small handful of images together before it clouded over. Even this this session didn't last for very long.

I hear your pain. We are struggling with cloud pollution at the moment.

And the embarrassing part is that I don't know if this image is the right way up, or if it is upside down. Two images stitched and cropped from the same night before the clouds rolled in.

The way the weather is going, I am planning on get out again around Christmas time.

It is pretty good. And the best thing is that it is all of about a five step walk from the warmth of being inside.

Okay, something that we have all seen before. But this is a little different. Four images were taken, a 10 minute, a 5 minute, a 2 1/2 minute, and a 30 second image using my RP, and using a 600mm Pentax manual focus lens. ISO 1600, and a wired cable release. An EQ6r pro that was guided was used as well. A friend merged them together in PS. These were taken from our porch, not at a dark site.

If the clouds ever go away, I hope to go out to a darker site, and have another go.

excellent image, Gary. We get them over here in Tassy too. What ruins it for me is the light pollution around where I live.
