My 5D2 (approx 5 years old, bought it new) is reading an aperture of 00. After doing a lot of internet research: I`ve wiped all contact points with a clean cloth Lightly brushed with lens pen brush, used hand blower Changed 3 lenses (all canon, 16-35, 50 1.4 + 70-200) they all have the same error. Made sure the lens was connected properly Updated firmware (it was current) Taken lens off, clicked shutter, put lens half on, clicked shutter etc (There was a youtube video doing this?) Turned camera on and off numerous times. Changed batteries and reformatted cards. I`m on a 4 week trip to Thailand and am on my last week, (camera has been working fine) went to shoot a beach landscape this afternoon, set everything up, and discovered this annoying damn error. I do shoot a lot at the beach but I am very careful and keep my gear clean. I do realize that may be a factor. I can get by with my wifes 1100D, but its not the same as my beloved 5D2. Any ideas out there, or am I up for a new body? I am going through Singapore next week, but my credit card is bound to melt. Cheers in advance Steve
You obviously want to keep your camera, so put in for service which will take some time and in the mean time, rent one for the trip.
Have you replaced the clock battery, see here: https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Canon+EOS+5D+Mark+II+Clock+Battery+Replacement/31531
