Tried a new spot today and it paid off. I got a ton of shots and just started post but really like how these two turned out and wanted to share before I went through the rest of them. Saw four juvenile and four mature bald eagles fight over what looked like a big catfish that was in the river. I think at one point they all ate some. I didn't have my range finder but guess they were 150-200 yards away. I love the 600mm F4 and 1.4 TC on the 5ds-r, with 840mm and 51 megapixels I'm still able to crop and get decent images I think. I've seen eagles lock talons in the air and fall but I've never seen them do it like this. The mature eagle was standing in the river and flipped up as the juvenile swooped down.
My photo above of the eagles locked together got Explored on Flickr today, 9/13/17. It's my first shot to get Explored, never thought I would have one picked.
Thank you pcake. I got so lucky trying a new spot, had good light and lots of action. If I only could've been closer and had some bug repellent with me, I got chewed up by the bugs but it was worth it. Still going through all the shots I took that day, posted a couple more tonight.
