    Hi,

I have a C300mk2 and a C100mk2 and would like to be able to trigger rec/stop of the B camera (in my case the C100mkii), which would make it easier to operate them in synch and without me moving from where the main camera is when they are placed far apart (one operator).

Thanks in advance for your help!

Yes, there are several ways to trigger the record/stop function on your C100mk2 remotely.

One option is to use a remote control cable that connects your cameras via the remote control port. Canon makes a remote control cable called the RC-V100, which is compatible with both the C300mk2 and the C100mk2. You can connect the cable to the remote control port on each camera and use the RC-V100 remote control unit to trigger the record/stop function on both cameras simultaneously.

Another option is to use a wireless remote control system. Canon makes a wireless remote control system called the WFT-E6A, which is compatible with both the C300mk2 and the C100mk2. You can connect the WFT-E6A to each camera and use a wireless remote control unit to trigger the record/stop function on both cameras simultaneously.

You can also use third-party remote control systems that are compatible with your cameras, such as the Libec ZC-9EX or the VariZoom VZ-Rock-C100. These remote control systems connect to the remote control port on your cameras and allow you to trigger the record/stop function remotely.

Lastly, some cameras, including the C300mk2, have built-in Wi-Fi connectivity that can be used to remotely control the camera via a smartphone app. However, the C100mk2 does not have built-in Wi-Fi, so this option would not be available for triggering the record/stop function on the C100mk2.

It's important to note that the specific method for triggering the record/stop function on your C100mk2 will depend on the remote control system you choose to use. You should consult the user manual or manufacturer's website for your chosen remote control system to determine the best way to remotely trigger the record/stop function on your C100mk2.

Thanks Joey again for providing such a detailed replay to my question.

The best options would be to have the canon remote but it is very expensive.

The canon C100 mk2 does have built-in Wifi. I tried to set up a local server on the camera but could not see the local browser on my Android mobile phone. All the video I saw where it was actually working on a c100mk2 was by connecting an iPhone to the camera.
I have not try on the C300mk2 to set up a local Wifi server.

I though that by using a HDMI cable you could slave one camera so by pressing rec/stop on one it would trigger rec /stop on the other but it seems not to be possible.

If I make my C100mk2 work with my Android mobile phone then I could at list start my main camera (c300mk2) and trigger start/stop of the c100mk2 via mobile phone, this when I am alone (interviewing someone for instance) and want to use two cameras at a certain distance from each other.

    Thanks!
    Alfredo
