    Hi,

I own Canon R6 ii and learning to use this beautiful camera for video.

If I am in photo mode and in Manual mode then by pressing red button I can shoot video in manual and if I am in AV then by pressing the same red button I can get video in AV mode.

My question is that when I am in photo mode and can shoot video just by pressing the red button, why do I need to change mode through switch given on top left.

    Thanks

    Ketan

    Hi Ketan!

The Canon R6 II has a few different ways to shoot video, and the best way to use them depends on your specific needs.

When you press the red button, the camera will switch to movie mode and use the settings that were currently set for still photography. This is a great way to quickly start shooting videos without having to change any settings. However, if you want more control over your video settings, you can switch to manual movie mode by turning the mode dial to M. This will allow you to set the shutter speed, aperture, and ISO independently.

The switch on the top left of the camera controls the video recording format. If you leave it in the "photo" position, the camera will record video in the same format as still photos. However, if you switch it to "movie", the camera will record video in a higher-quality format that is better suited for professional use.

So, to answer your question, there are two reasons why you might want to change the mode through the switch on the top left of the camera:

    • To control the video recording format.
    • To have more control over your video settings.
Which method you use will depend on your specific needs. If you just want to quickly start shooting video, you can use the red button. However, if you want more control over your video settings, you should switch to manual movie mode or change the video recording format.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.
