I have been using Canon DSLRs since 2008 (40D, 6D, 80D). Before that I was a Sony fan (DSC-828, DSC-R1). All of this after a 30+ yrs analog "career" (I'm an amateur) using mostly Nikon and a stint with Leica.
I have been thinking about all this gear I've been using over the years.
And, seeing what's happening in the market and probably behind the scenes on the designer's desks, this is what I would like, for general purpose photography. My camera would be / sport / have :
Mirrorless, with a square (!) sensor 30.5 x 30.5mm (this makes the use of full frame lenses possible with no change at all), automatically switching to 19 x 19mm with APS-C lenses. Thus ergonomic optimalisation of the camera body can be achieved since you never have to turn the camera while taking pictures. Depending on the sensor used, starting with existing sensor densities, the larger version could deliver anywhere between appr. 28 and 66 Mpx, starting from the 6D2 and the 80D sensors respectively. The smaller one would deliver 11 to 26 Mpx. The sensors would have to be redesigned, of course.
A hi-def tiltable finder and screen would be nice, and compatibility with existing lenses, flashes and accessories. Electronic silent shutter, GPS, WiFi and Bluetooth, a power grip, 2-way level and 2 card slots are on my list, 3 custom modes please (had those 10 yrs ago on the 40D !).
And, as I'm old school (and it seems I'm not the only one considering the success of some players on the market) I would love to see the return of aperture ring and dials....
So Mr Canon, if you're interested...?

I don't know about the flash camera with all the dodads on it but you can have a lens with aperture ring and depth of field scale, you have been at it for 30+ years so manual focusing should not put you off, so try some of the Chinese lenses as some of these are pretty good since they produce cameras, lenses etc for the popular brands or some of the old lenses such as M42 mount, Canon FD mount etc. with a lenses adapter running the camera in manual or aperture priority. I and many other use them and get good results with this setup.
