I have recently purchased the Canon EOS R7 which came with one Canon branded battery. I wanted some spares for emergencies and after some research settled on a pack of three K&F Concept batteries of the same spec as the Canon battery, but more affordable.

I have registered the Canon battery to the camera without a problem, and then registered the first K&F battery (again without any problem). I put the second K&F battery in but the option to register it is greyed out and it seems to be picking it up as the first K&F battery I put in the camera.

Am i doing something wrong or is there an issue with the batteries?

Probably not, Canon says that registering 3rd party batteries "MIGHT" work.
Seems like KF is a pretty good brand with good reviews on the Canon ones even, so they probably perform as a battery just fine, but dont have a way to see separate serial numbers. Honestly though, I have not even bothered to make much this feature when it was available in my newer 5d DLRs.

I can tell you over 20 years of owning canon DSLRs and seeing tons of threads on the internet about battery issue, you get a mixed bag of performance out of 3rd part battery brands, I only purchased one set back in 2010 on my 5d2 which worked ok but gave about half the shots of the genuine ones.
Many people complain about non canon brands not even being recognized after a year or so or they have problems charging fully after some use. Where as my canon brands have gone on for years with no hiccups. Its probably not a place to pinch a few pennies if the brand name is still readily available for that model of camera, I wouldn't worry that one feature isn't supported on an off brand item.
