This is apparently the only station in the UK which has never seen a train! The story is that Brunel had planned to extend his railway to the Dartmouth area and wanted to have the terminus in Dartmouth itself, rather than in Kingswear on the other side of the river. This would have involved building a bridge over the River Dart and Brunel, assuming success in that part of the venture, had the station built. However, the bridge did not materialise, thus leaving the completed station building marooned without any track leading into it. It is now a cafe, but is at least painted in the old GWR station colours. GWR Station at Dartmouth by John Liddle, on Flickr
