For anyone who knows something about these cameras, I have a Ql17 with a bent hood thread ring. No clue how to replace it or where to get one. Advice?

Hi Jonah, welcome to the forum.

I will be honest with you, I know nothing about these cameras. But I have heard about a tool called a lens vise, and that is it's correct spelling. I have never used one, but I guess it depends on how badly damaged the filter thread is to if you could use this as a possible fix. They don't look to be that expensive and seem easy to use. If you do decide to go down this path, post some pictures and let know how you get on.

    Hope it helps.

I have only tried to fix a damage filter thread , twice. It requires some mechanical ability and access to a vice and some woodworking tools. place some soft wood, pine or similar in the vice. Using a rasp file the top of the wood to the shape of the lens thread, using a soft faced mallet gently tap the damaged area into shape, I was lucky as I had access to a 42mm tap set and re cut the internal thread. If no tap set is available the next thing to try is a thread file, all the best with it.
