Does anybody know where I might find a data port cover for the EOS 1v? I've been searching the net for hours and have only found that when you contact Canon, they tell you to call B&H, and when you call B&H, they tell you to contact Canon. The only place that I have seen them is here but they are out of stock, and who knows if they'll ever get them in: http://www.procamerarepair.com/CANON-EOS-1V-FLASH-REMOTE-TERMINAL-_p_2242.html

Here's the part I'm talking about:

It covers the data port on the lower right hand side of the camera.

If you are unable to source the part new, would an old donor body that is faulty be worth buying for the part. I know that it would cost more than just the small plastic part alone.

That would depend on a lot of things. If I get it of what appears to be the going price of $165 including shipping, and then I resell it on ebay for exactly the same price, I would say that it wouldn't be worth it. The reason is because between the 10% Ebay fee and the 3% Paypal fee, my total cost would be $21.45. That's three times what the part lists for new.

Another thing to consider is that you just never know what someone might pay for something like a parts body. I have taken the chance on a parts body before, miking the same assumptions about my ability to resell it for a certain price. I have an Asahi Pentax (model AP) from 1956 that needed a small part. The going price for a parts AP was about $80 and that's about what I paid for mine. After I got the part I needed, I relisted it several times, dropping the price each time, until I was listing it for $30 I think. I finally decided that with a camera of this vintage, the parts body was worth more to me as a spare than the less than $30 I could get for it, so I decided to keep it.
