I have only just bought my 6D Mk1 and am currently testing it. First few frames excellent. Started day two to find many heavily corrupted raw files both on Adobe Bridge and in Affinity Photo. All the J-pegs seem fine, but I like to use raw files. I am working on a newish Mac mini with High Sierra. This seems to happen with both of my card readers, but the images display perfectly well back in the camera.
New to the forum, incidentally, and thanks to all for any help.

Hello and welcome to the forum.

There are a couple of things to try to remedy your problem. This is what I would do for starters. First off I would try another storage card. I would also try to open your corrupt files on someones else's PC using different software.

I have heard of this sort of problem before, and often it points towards the image viewing software. I hope it helps. Let know how you get on.

Thanks, Gary. I changed to Affinity having had similar problems a while ago using Lightroom with my Fuji XT1. Affinity solved that, and I subsequently dispensed with LR. I do not currently have an alternative image editor. Can you suggest one?
I should also have mentioned that I have for years used raw files from my old 5D without any problems on the same setup.
I am also unsure why the Jpegs are seemingly o.k. Could sheer file size have anything to do with it?

Hi again Gary. I subsequently tried Topaz Studio and Pixelmator, and both 'saw' uncorrupted image files on the file reader. I then returned to Affinity and was able to both view and import uncorrupted raw files directly from my card reader. Therefore the culprit appears to be Adobe Bridge, even though it behaved perfectly well initially. I am little suspicious that a programme called Dr Cleaner on my Mac, which automatically operated whilst I was image editing, may have had something to do with this. Something to watch in future.
Fortunately it seems that only the files downloaded onto Bridge were damaged and those on the actual image card were unaffected.........phew.
Pleased with the camera, by the way, and the little Canon 40mm pancake lens I bought to go with it seems brilliant! It seemed a great budget alternative to the rather expensive and bulky 35mm I first looked at.

You could also remove the software from the equation, just copy them straight from a card reader to the computer and leave the originals on your card till your ready to format the card. I have never seen corrupted raw files doing this.

I am pleased that you got it sorted out. Any chance at some point in posting some images. I am curious about the image quality of the 40mm pancake.

Will do so Gary, just as soon as I've properly edited them. May happen later this week. I'm also a musician and printmaker, and both have a gig to play on Saturday and new printwork to prepare for my two galleries. I'll get there a.s.a.p.
Thanks Johnsey....clearly. a need to change methods. Mind you, my intention was to do just that on Adobe Bridge (and thought I had) when things went a little silly.

Hi Gary...I have just posted some zip file images featuring the 40mm pancake in the Canon lens forum, together with a commentary. Hope it's useful.
