    Hi all,
I recently got myself an eos m50 for vlogging. I cant seem to get a setting that will film a video for more than 7-9 mins without it splitting the file, saying it is over 4bites. I have a great sd card so not that. I got the inpression i would be able to film for up to 30mins.
    Please help x

Canon creates 4 gig files a a file size limit. You will get longer video by going down to a smaller Resolution and /or frame rate. I believe most canon sensors all cap out at 29 min to avoid over heating. Produced video is generally cut together so the need for long periods of video is not something that would be a priority.

Thanks... i tried down to fhd25 and still only lasts 9 mins before splitting the file.
What are the specs you would think would do the whole 29mins? Seems so silly to only be able to film for 7 mins when it was sold as a vlogging kit. X

Does it split the file and continue shooting on another? The file size limit is 4gigs so if it only splits you should be able to stitch it back together.
Honestly I don't think many vloggers are worried about length of video as they will be editing clips together. How often have you watch a video and seen more than a minute or two before it cuts to another angle at least. https://www.cinema5d.com/canon-eos-m50-hands-on-review-the-best-vlogging-camera/ hits many of the points of why it is a good entry level mirror-less that works for vlogging as long as you use HD and not 4k.

Thanks I will take a look. I agree that not all clips will need to be long but I’m a baking youtuber so it could cut it in an annoying spot.
    Thanks for your replies x

Side note, i read that FAT32 filesystem has a file size limit of 4gigs, which explains the file size limit issue.
