Most cameras use usb as data transfer only and opt for wall mount dock for charging batteries. It will likely be easier to find a after market dock for your batteries that allows you to charge from usb. Honestly I would just pick up a few batteries and charge them all if your on a trip, you should be able to get several hundred shots out of a charge; it isn't like you will need to charge the battery every day. Maybe if you spend your whole even playing with the LCD display and scrolling through menus and photos then i could see that eat up battery.

Thanks for your replies. That is awesome idea to bring more than one battery.

I would just grab a couple of NB-11L batteries as extras, and a mains charger. I looked and saw that you get around 300 shots on a battery. If you grab two spare batteries, you should be good for a while.
