I've shot with the Mark III for years now. I recently bought the exact same set up I have for my assistant. The Mark III with 24-70mm L series lens.

Her images have been very hazy. And as you can see in this instance in the background, it almost looks like an oil painting.[IMG]

I have been a pro photog for a long time, so I know it's not a focusing issue, or a blur from too much movement. It's a large raw file. As I personally shot this image.

Shot at 1/500 sec at f/2.8, ISO 250
This file it totally unedited. She is fuzzy which is an issue, but look how weird the background is??

I was wondering if it was moisture because we were at the beach but I just checked the studio images from the same day and they have the same strange haze.

Thoughts? Thank you for your time.

My guess is there is something wrong with the 5dII you just got her. Are the 5d3 and lens both second hand? It could be the lens is out of alignment. Also the 5d3 could have a focus issue, maybe the focus screen is jarred out of place slightly, heard of it happening to others. You may have to send it in to canon to have them test and calibrate it. That image above is kinda a perfect storm for softness if the focus is missed, you have a very shallow depth of field on a object pretty close to camera so I would expect the background to be rather blurry at 2.8, and with a cloudy ocean side image and some sun peaking through I'm not surprised to see some haziness to the sky also.
I guess in short I would swap bodies and lenses and narrow down which one is actually problematic, and some other locations/lighting situations with similar background issues would also help.

Thank johnsey! I will first try to determine if it's the lens or the camera. I just figured it was the camera.
