    Hi guys,
I am planning to buy a lens but bit confused between 18-135 vs 18-200. If the difference is just the focusing motor i don't mind as i want a big range. But will there be any difference in the image quality between the two lens.

    Thanks in advance....

Not a big difference in image quality, I believe the 18-135 is a slightly better performer but that is likely due to being a newer lens design and the auto focus is going to be nicer with the STM motor so it would be my first choice out of those two. If you want the longer range then you may want to get the 18-200. I have also heard good things about the 55-250.

Honestly at the $600 price tag I have a hard time recommending any crop (-s) consumer lens and would rather have you to invest in a 70-200 L which you would be happier with if you don't mind the additional weight of the pro grade build on the L lenses, and you can use on all camera bodies. All the consumer ones are variable aperture and have more issues with sharpness in corners, CA and distortion.

Hello and welcome to the forum.

I agree with what Johnsey has said. I had a quick look at the reviews about the two lenses you have mentioned, and the 18-135 is the sharper of the two, so it gets my vote.

Depending on your long term plan, I would rather buy full frame as opposed to aps-c lenses with the intention of one day upgrading your aps-c body to a full frame one.

    Just my thoughts.
