i know about the x1.6 on my canon for non native lenses.
my question is does a native M mount kit lens designed for canon crop sensor still need to have the 1.6x applied to it or is that taken into account for in production

reason i'm asking is i have a couple of zoom lenses for my M50 and want to use them to determine what ef equivalent to get when i decide on the mm i need for a situation

Your M50 has an APC sized sensor so any full frame lens will need to consider that same 1.6 multiplication factor. M Mount lens just like Ef -s are designed for the smaller sensor and will behave similarly regarding focal distance. The multiplcation factor is simply the comparison of the lens size to the sensor size.

A 50mm lens on full frame does not actually magnify any closer on any camera body, the APC sensor is only about 2/3 the size of full frame so it crops the 50mm glass down giving a field of view similar to what a 75mm would on a full frame.
