Hello all. I hope you’re having a great day.

I’m hoping someone else has had similar problems as my internet search has been fruitless so far

    The camera is a 5d 2.

    Problem:
When switched on, the little red light flashes as usual. There is currently no top display showing. The rear display looks black but there is, in fact, a very very dark display with faint lines flickering. Almost undetectable but there. Through the viewfinder you can see the info illuminated but very dark and all icons lit and rendered useless.
    The shutter still fires though.

    What I’ve tried so far:
Removing both batteries and leaving overnight. Removing lens and memory card. Changing lenses. Changing batteries. I have checked the battery door switch and the card door switch. I have checked lens contacts too. Currently to no avail.

It’s had indoor use mostly and never used in any rain. The next step I was going to take was to send it to a service centre but I’m not particularly well off financially. I’ve had the camera since new and it took me a couple of years to save enough to buy it, so the service centre was always going to be my last port of call.

Has anyone had anything similar or the same please?
The camera is factory standard with no hacks or modifications.

I’m at a bit of a loss really.

Thanks for taking time to read

    Tom

Sounds like a wiring issue to me. Sadly that would mean involving Canon.

    Will do Gary thanks.
Missing shooting a bit now. I will ring them this morning after the big list of chores my dear wife has amassed for me
