Are there any photographers here using lenses other than Canon lens on their EOS bodies? I have had excellent results with Leica R lens and Schneider-Kreuznach lens. Pentax screw mount lenses are also extremely sharp. Here is one example: 1Ds Mk II with Leica 50mm f2 R series lens.

Thanks for posting...the Pentax screw mount lenses are built exceptionally well and they can be had for just a song.

I have built up a good collection over the years but I won't be adding to it. The best part now is that I can use them on the FF Canon at their designated focal length. That 24mm is a special favourite from my film days.

    I used my 50d and a Schneider-Kreuznach 50mm f1.9 lens for this shot.

That looks like a good combination. That image is so sharp that you could cut yourself on it! I should try one of my 50mm Takumars on the 1Ds.

A beautiful image, PP. I love agapanthus. You have inspired me also.

I call this my Moon-shooter, Tamron 500mm f8 Cassegrain. I found this in the used department at a camera store at 25usd. Coincidentally, it came with a Leica adapter and since I already had a Leica-EOS adapter it fit perfectly to my needs.

Oh, that is a nice find. And I would guess that it is worth a lot more than you paid for it. Tamron SP is good gear. I have a few,

Canon 70d with Mamiya RB-67 50mm f4.5 lens, my idea was to get the center area of the lens on a crop sensor camera.

I think you will find quite a few people using non EOS mount lenses., I regually use Tamron lenses with Adaptill 2mounts, Soligor with M42 mounts , Super Takumar in M42 mount lenses and recently been having a thing for a Rayette 135 F2.8 with M42 mount. I have a collection of FD and FL lenses ranging from 28mm to 600mm, all purchased cheap . Have a look on Facebook and you will see quite a few groups dedicated to various old lenses used with modern digital cameras. The results from these lenses are excellent.

That is a very beautiful image, pp. That camera and lens combo is working well for you.

As a reasonably recent Canon owner my interest is being able to use my M42 lenses on the full frame Canon at their nominated focal length with an adapter. It becomes a more manual process but that is not a bad thing.
I have never heard of the Rayette brand, Craig, and I am sure there are plenty of others out there that I don't know about.
I once bought an old preset M42 lens from a work colleague and it is the only one with this name that I have ever seen - Sankyo Kohki Komura f2.5 105mm with a 48mm filter thread size. I must give it a try on the 1Ds.

I just happen to have a Tamron Adaptall-2 mount for Olympus if anyone is interested.

The Raynette ( I miss-spelled it. ) is all metal construction and comes with a cool screw in lens cap IMG_2777.jpg

That looks like a well built lens, Craig. It does not matter that you mis-spelt the name. I have not heard of either of them. :)

The only information I have on it so far is it off another lens site is "The Raynette brand featured on a couple of quite sophisticated wide-angle lenses, this short tele and a short zoom, all in M42 or Pentax K mount. I can unearth no information regarding it's manufacturer, other than it was made in Japan, and a few hints that Raynette was possibly a Yashica subsidiary, but that may well be one of the self-perpetuating myths so common on the Net. This M42 example hasn't seen much use, and I'm impressed by the appearance and build quality, and the excellent optical performance. With very clear and well-coated glass, silky focusing, the whole lens exudes quality, right down to the nice screw-in lens cap".
