Hey peeps, hope everyone is going well; On Friday I'm flying overseas going to the middle east visiting family in Iraq (2 weeks) and then going to Turkey (2 days work related/medical treatment trip mostly). I got my family in there, will be shooting 90% family/portraits mostly with kids but also adults. I got weight for 2 lenses, and have the following gear: 1) EOS R with adapter 2) RF 85 1.2 Rest all EF lenses: 3) 24-70 2.8 II, 70-200 2.8 II IS, 35 1.4 II, 16-35 F4 IS, 100 2.8 macro Thinking Would definitely be taking the 24-70, unless most ppl convince me otherwise. and thinking what would you choose as 2nd lens perhaps with a different focal length 85 or the 70-200 makes most sense? open to any suggestions. I do feel with kids for non staged natural photos of them playing etc....I can imaging the 70-200 perhaps shining? will be 80% indoor but 20% in largish backyard/frontyards... most shooting will be in homes, but others will be a zoo, amusement park and a museum, plus a few nice cafes day and night. should have weight for any 2 lenses of these What do you think? Thanks to you all! Hydar
I have brought a lot of kit overseas before, and frankly barely used half of it. So I like the 2 lens idea very much. If its mostly fam/portrait and you want some mid-wide versatility. How much zoom do you plan? You could use the 24 -70 and the 70-200 and have only 2 lens cover all length. I could see maybe using the long zoom at the zoo, but I hardly used mine. However you know which lenses and lengths you favor. You also know the low light performance of you camera, if your taking the 24-70 2.8 do you really need the 85mm 1.2? Sure its nice to have for single person portraits, but given this is mostly family not sure if that makes as much sense. I think that would leave you to the macro or the long zoom for a second lens. Not sure how much you like to rely on the macro. No right or wrong answer here, i would just rank tendency to shoot each lens and then factor in not overlapping if possible.
