I bought an EF- S IS 18 - 55mm lens for my 70D camera. Admittedly it was cheap because the seller said AF was intermittent. This was true, but AF will only work once, after I used MF and deliberately blurred the subject. Then AF worked OK. However, when in AF, the shutter will not fire, until I go back to MF.
There are no problems with two other Canon lenses.
I am content to only use the MF setting, but is there anything I can do?
    Has anyone else experienced this?

    Hi Clive,

If the camera is unable to automatically focus when you ask it to, the shutter will not release. This is absolutely normal. Your camera is working correctly. Your lens, as you have rightly said is faulty and that's where your problem begins and ends unfortunately.

    Hi G,
Thanks for your response. I realise that it's not worth the time and money having the lens seen to. As I said, I'm happy to do without AF, as I like the images the lens gives me, manually focussed. It was cheap, anyway!
