Hi Everyone, I recently purchased a Canon Powershot SX430.

I’m an amateur and just want images that are better quality than my old iPhone (I don’t want to upgrade).

I am having trouble getting full length images using the camera and tripod as on my old camera I used to zoom out to get the pictures to be the size I needed . However, in auto mode it seems to be set to the smallest size but I can only get a 3/4 image.

    Can anyone help me?
    Thanks

I'm not exactly sure if your are concerned with getting largest resolution or frustrated with the image dimensions.

This link, page 38 shows the setting to get the most resolution at L you will be able to get a high res image (300dpi roughly 16x23)

Now if the issue is that you do not have a 2:3 aspect ratio image that can not be solved, in fact you do not have a 3:4 either. Your image sensor is a 1/2.3 type CCD which is more similar to a 3:4. The sensor is what it is, you can crop it to the aspect ratio you want.

Thank you so much I’ll look at these notes. I ended up sliding the tripod to the back of my room, which isn’t ideal.
