I've heard that you can buy a macro lens which attaches to a sx510hs. Is this true?

I presume you are looking at something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Canon-Powershot-Definition-Element-Close-Up/dp/B00EZH90MS or https://www.amazon.com/Canon-Powershot-Definition-Filter-Adapter/dp/B07GZZX8YP

The SX510 and other similar cameras is what is called a bridge camera, the lens on the camera is fixed and not removable. What this lens is that you are referring to is a essentially a glass close-up filter which magnifies and allows macro level focusing on a subject. If you have a bridge camera something like this is what you will need for those type of images.
