How can I tell if a Canon DSLR is weather sealed - both older and current? Doesn't seem to be in the literature - or maybe I just missed it. And, how about lenses, too?

Usualy, when i want to find specification about cameras I go to DPReview or to ImagingResources. I thing that are the best known sites for cameras.

I guess you posted this in two different forum posts, generally the higher end prosumer and pro bodies will have weather sealing. The L lenses will have weather sealing. The consumer level ones do not.

I believe there are some L Lenses that don't have the weather sealing, not positive though

Right, I guess I cant think of any that aren't; but that may be possible. Either way it is a good rule of thumb. They also are careful to use terms like dust and drip weather resistance.

If Canon products are officially not advertised as such, I think there is no weather seal guarantee.

Unless I am mistaken weather sealed lenses have washers/gaskets at the mount. Visible.

Yes, but sometimes it's hard to tell from the product pictures.

True, but if one is relying on photos to ascertain weather sealing, then a more reliable option is to look at the official specifications. (Many seals are not easily visible anyway, especially on a camera body - in photos and also in hand.)
