What is the easiest way of geotagging photos taken with my EOS-800D? I would have thought that it ought to be possible each time the camera takes a photo for it to connect to an app on my smartphone (via Bluetooth, presumably) which will return the GPS coordinates so that these can then be written into the tags in the photo, then when I upload the photos to my PC I don't have to do anything else to get them geotagged. I just have to make sure that I've always got my phone with me and that it is turn on and the location is enabled. Is this possible? If not, what is the easiest way of making sure that all my photos get geotagged?

    Thanks - Rowan

I have never bothered with it but yes you should be able to set the camera to geo tag using bluetooth and it will get coordinates from the phone. Some cameras also are compatible with a GPS receiver and a few high end ones have it built in.

Another option is to tag the locations in Lightroom.

If I can do this, how do I set it up on my EOS-800D? I can't see anything promising in the menu. And what app do I have to have on my phone to provide the geotagging data when the camera asks for it?

    Thanks - Rowan

Ok I stand corrected, no BT option. You need the receiver for the menu to be activated.

Look at this page in your manual.

Rowan, as you have a lot of questions, it may be worth buying this book; Canon-Rebel T7i/800D for Dummies.
That's not an insult bud, it's what the series is called, honest!
I bought the version for both the 450D and 750D in the past, and they cover just about everything you can possibly want to do with your particular model. Very thoroughly and simply explained, without being patronising.
