    Hello All,

I'm hoping someone here has a solution for the problem I'm having with a 7D Camera.

    Issue:

    1) When a lens is attached and lens switch is set to AF and camera is set to any mode other than AUTO:

    Shutter will not release

Menu (and most other buttons) will not work. LCD screen will not display anything.

    2) When a lens is attached and lens switch is set to MF and camera is set to any mode other than AUTO:

    Shutter will release

Menu (and most other buttons) still will not work. LCD screen will not display anything.

    3) When a lens is NOT attached and camera is set to any mode ..

    Shutter will release

Menu will work fine (Even in modes other than Auto)

This is the only way to get into the Menu when not in Auto.

4: When a lens is attached and camera is set to AUTO Mode...

Everything works fine. Menu, Shutter, etc.

    Have so far tried:

Remove battery to reset. Multiple times.

    updated firmware

    factory reset.

    changed lenses.

Thank you in advance if any one has anything else we can try or has experienced this on the 7D before.

I have had a similar issue with my 80D in the past. Check that you haven't changed your mirror lock up settings accidently. Factory reset should work in most cases, if it does not then maybe the new firmware has changed a setting that you are not aware of. Maybe the new firmware for some reason has the mirror lock up setting enabled automatically by accident so when you do the factory reset it just sets it wrongly and causes you the issue.

    Worth a try though.

Many thanks shall give it a try. Although I did a factory reset before I updated the firmware. Mirror lock-up is worth exploring! again thnaks for your help.
