New member here, not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I will ask anyway!

I recently discovered my grandads old film cameras and lenses in our attic. I've been spending a lot of time with them lately and I am loving them. I would love to be able to use his lenses with my Canon EOS600D, I have purchased a lens adapter from amazon but it unfortunately didn't fit my Canon.

Can anyone point me in the right direction as to which adapter I need? For reference the lenses are:
    - Leica 40mm Summicron
    - Leica Elmar-C 90/4

    Thanks!
    Andy

I'm guessing you got a Leica R to EOS adapter. and those lenses are Leica M mount i believe. I'm not a Leica buff but I believe they are smaller than the standard EOS mount which is why you only see Leica M to EOS-M mount for canons crop sensor mirror-less cameras.

I'm sure some of the lens adapting guys here can chime in on this topic and add to or confirm.

Thanks for the reply! At a closer look at my order, you are bang on correct, It is for the EOS-M. I'm just struggling to find something that will work for me. Unless it simply doesn't exist! Either way, I shall continue my hunt!

Hi Andy, welcome to the forum.

Please correct me if I am miss understanding your problem. But if you are trying to adapt rangefinder lenses to a dslr, it is not going to work. The flange distance, that is the distance from the lens mount to the sensor is shorter on a rangefinder and longer on a dslr. So if you could mount your Leica lenses on your dslr, it would be the same as having a short extension tube mounted to your camera, so you will not be able to achieve infinity focus.

The only way you are going to be able to use these lenses is with a mirrorless body. Such as a EOS R/RP bodies or one on the M series bodies.

    I hope this helps you.

Hi Gary, thanks for the welcome!

Yes I think you have nailed it. This would be why I am struggling to find an adapter for it. Oh well, it's not the end of the world. Thanks for the help!
