Very nice image, PP. Good contrast and detail.
I don't have long enough lenses for my Canons to think about trying moon shots. But I do have a Sigma 150-500 for my APS-C Pentax K-3.
So, if you would indulge me I will show you what I got on Wednesday evening:

You will notice that we get a different view of the moon down here in Aus.
I plan to try to get a few more shots of moonset just after 6AM tomorrow morning.

Great shots... Specially seeing how the different angles of view result in different perspectives. Never seen it like this. Great contribution.

Here is another view of the moon from the southern hemisphere. This one was taken at moonset just over an hour ago at 06:17 AM.

With your long Sigma and K3? And if so, how much cropping did you have to do?

    Nice image by the way.

Thanks, Gary. Yes, I had the Sigma 150-500mm on the K-3. How much cropping? LOTS! but there is still good detail there. Here is what it looked like SOOC:

It's interesting in the fact that a 500mm focal length is long when used on your normal day to day subjects, but as soon as you aim it at the moon it seems a little short. I do have a long lens around that focal length, but I haven't really had a good go at the moon as our backyard is pretty light polluted. So much so on a moonless night, I can read a book just by using the neighbours poorly thought out lighting.

Thank goodness for crop high density sensors to be able to crop and keep good detail.

I recently acquired a 2X K-mount converter. I haven't tried in on the 150-500mm Sigma but I am thinking of seeing what it can do.
    Stay tuned!!

No pressure, but I am curious about how this turns out.
