I bought this non-working SX30is because my own SX30is had developed two fine horizontal lines across the fold-out LED screen. Pictures were still fine, but the lines annoyed me.

I took the screens out of the cameras and swapped them over. The screen transplant worked fine, my original camera is now as-it-was before the lines appeared.

But I'd like to get the non-worker going again. The battery is perfect - it charges ok and powers up and runs my original camera. So it is not the battery that's the problem. But nothing happens when you switch on. No green light, nothing.

The only thing I can see that might be the problem is the tiny 'door closed' detector on the battery compartment. I cannot see how this works; I have tried holding it over with tweezers, but that doesn't help.

Can anyone please help? The camera is cosmetically really good, it will be a shame to scrap it .
