I have downloaded 5D200212.FIR from the can website . When I connect via USB cable to the camera , open it, and try and copy the file across to the root directory it wont copy across.

    Any ideas?

I have updated my old 5d by copying it to the CF card via a card reader then going into the firmware area and seeing the option to upgrade because the card saw the file. The other option is to use the EOS Utility and connect via USB the camera and run the update through the utility.

Upgrade options should be included in the ZIP file which provided you the firmware update file.
