I have a Canon M50 Mark II camera. When I zoom to 3x or 5x to take a photograph in Manual mode with a kit lens, the pic is clicked without zoom. Pls, help me with how to take a pic with zoom. However, video recording works fine with zoom.
i have M50 too, the zoom you are using is only a focus aid, it zooms into the image x5 or x10 so you can get a better look at the detail if you are manual focusing or want to make sure the camera is focusing on exactly what you want, also when you look at the focus points after the shot has been taken (only checked it in single point focus) the square is smaller that when you shoot at regular size, so the camera does also make use of you zooming in too for its auto focus. i find the x5 and x10 very useful indeed with my 52 year old eyes, if you want zoom so you can get a bigger image then you will need to get a zoom lens, for wildlife i have the sigma 100-400mm c via the canon ef to efm adapter, (going to the zoo with it today) the reason i mention this is if you are looking at one of the two efm zooms the 18-150mm and 55-200mm i favour the 18-150 over the 55-200, both lenses are nice and sharp but i find the 18-150mm has a more versatile range esp at the close up wides as it can focus naturally alot closer than the other one, It also fits in nicely with the 100-400mm or 150-600mm big boys giving less overlap in focal if you want to go wider zoom the 11-22mm fits in nicely with the 18-150mm just a few thoughts
