Here is a tentative list of lenses that Canon has slated to discontinue manufacturing. The report alleges that a huge swath of lenses will no longer be manufactured: EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM, EF 14mm f/2.8L USM, EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM, EF 24-70mm f/4L IS USM Macro, EF-S 35mm f/2.8 IS STM Macro, EF-S 55-250mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM, EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6L IS USM, EF 135mm f/2L USM, and the EF 180mm f/3.5L USM Macro. It also alleges that four more lenses are set to cease production by the end of the year: EF 35mm f/2 IS USM, EF 300mm f/2.8L IS USM II, EF 400mm f/4 DO IS USM II, and the EF 500mm f/4L IS USM II. So sad to see my favorite: EF-S 55~250mm, IS, STM is on the Chopping Block. I was considering selling both of mine, but not now anyway. Hope this helps and thnx for viewing. Tony
The slow end of the EF lens? The push for the R mount, lower sales on some of these lenses, some of these lenses maybe of an older design that are due for an update, or maybe a combination of all of them. Gary
Yes, I believe you are spot on. I never thought Canon would axe any of their awesome L series lenses. Low consumer demand perhaps. Thnx, Tony
well canon have previously said they will make ef glass again if the demand is there it makes sense for them to concentrate on building up the rf lenses, they have along way to go if they want to have a line up like the ef ones
yes i had seen that a few days ago, not often i refer to tony and chelsea on youtube but i did like their early coverage of the R3 with the history of the R3 name, esp useful for someone coming into the canon fold at the mirrorless stage.
