    Hi
I've bought an 80D DSLR sold as faulty because of blurred images and stiff controls. The camera works fine, no blurring and no stiff controls (did they not depress the button in the middle of the dial? It came from a photographic oulet!) so I am a happy bunny.
However, the LCD display bleeds vertically, not something that is much of a problem except in liveview or video. I'm wondering if this will be solved by replacing just the screen? I have read that such damage can be caused by heat, maybe leaving the screen exposed to the sun for a long time, but whether it is just the screen or something more I don't know. Do you have any experience of such a fault?
    All the best, Geoff

Looks to me like a new screen is required. Lines like that on any kind of screen usually mean that the screen is bad.

Hi, Geoff, I have no experience in this area, but I suggest have a look on You Tube, I see there is a few clips that might interest you and may give you a few ideas as what direction you should take. One clip shows how to replace the screen. The camera is not that old so it might pay to get it fixed by someone who knows what they are doing, all the best with it.

Getting the screen replaced is the highly probable fix, it could be heat or wiring I imagine. I notice that these issues with LCDs seem to be more prominent on articulating screens. I guess if I end up with a camera that has one I will try to baby that screen a bit more than I have on my other cameras.

Articulating screens are more prone to functionality issues as the cables have to flex and bend during rotation. I'd imagine that the cable is permanently connected to the screen and by replacing the screen you get a new set of cables too.

Thank's for all the advice. I'm pleased to report that a new screen, £12.78 from China via ebay, and a few minutes work, and all is well :)
