I had a 60D, and a grip for it. And this grip has 2 battery holders, one for normal LP-E6, and another for AA size batteries. 6 of them. But 6 AA bateries can go up to 9,1 Volts.

So, my question is the folowing. If I will put a bigger battery, a 12 Volts with a down step to 9 Volts, my camera will not fry? Did someone know if there is a current limiter inside it? The battery I intend to use it is a 12V/7Amp.

There is definitely a voltage regulator built into the handgrip that reduces the voltage from the AA cells, however you may well cause damage if you try to power the camera from a voltage higher than that from the AA cells.
It is not something that I would recommend trying.

Might want some sort of step down voltage regulator if you plan on running a higher voltage battery ...
Where is this battery going ? Into the grip ? or is it going to be a belt mounted battery ?
I can think of several problems if you use a step down voltage regulator ..

The battery is big 12V/7A, but it already has more ports out, for 6V, and 9V, and other voltage. By afraid it doesn't has a 7.2 or a 7.5V port.

I have a AC-DC connector special for my camera, with adapter. Is comprised of two pieces. An adapter like a LP-E6 battery, with cables, and a transformer. And I can use the adapter to connect the battery to the camera.
