I want a wide zoom somewhere around that range to compliment my 18-150mm m mount, i have a few primes like a 7.5mm 9mm and 22mm, the zoom will be a walk around / scouting lens.
i'm leaning towards the 11-22mm unless there are any faster zooms in that range, i mostly do closer up middle ground stuff so its not specifically for long distance wide but getting alot more in closer up.
also is the 10-18 s lens actually inside the range of the 11-22 m ?
i ask as i'm not totally sure of the characteristics of the ef-s lenses.
    thanks

I got to admit that I know next to nothing about these lens. But there are a couple of other options that you may want to throw into the mix.

There is the Sigma 8-16mm f4.5-5.6.

And if you want fast, but it maybe not in the focal length you are looking at.....

Lots of reading. There maybe one or two that sort of fits what you are looking for.

    Good luck.

I have the Canon 10-18 and it's great. I use it mainly for real-estate work. I just took a couple of shots 10mm and 18mm in the garden. This is the result.
Here's the Little Gem Magnolia tree at 10mm from 2.5 metres away.

Here is the flower with a bee detaching the anthers from the stamen. After a while the tepals/petals drop to the ground - oh joy!

10mm - This is what's left after the bees attack and the petals drop.

i went with the ef-m 11-22mm in the end, mostly for the body size as its native to my M50 and its going to be a companion lens, if i find myself doing alot of stuff with those focal lengths i might think about getting a faster prime etc.
the 10-18 does look like a nice lens also, i have had my eye on it before.
    thanks for the input guys
