Hello All, I have an EOS 2000D, I wish to know if the f11 600 or 800 will autofocus along with the RF 1.4 and 2x extenders?
Hello, Sorry but no. Your EOS 2000D is a different mount to the RF mount. If you want of these lenses, you are going to need one of the R mirrorless cameras. Gary
Welcome to the forum, Mike. Sorry I can not help you with this one, Gary's advice is worth listening too as he is knowledgeable in this area.
You can adapt a lager lens like EF to mirror-less, not the other dirrection. Also if you use an extender you loose stops of light, an f4 lens for example becomes and f8 with a 2x extender, and you need a high end camera if you hope to have auto focus at f8. They have charts online that tell you more about compatibility of extenders and lenses, but it gets pretty dark for auto focus to work if your adapting 5.6 and slower lenses.
as you might be out of luck with the RF lenses and if you are looking for very long reach i have the M50 and i use the sigma 100-400mm c and the sigma 150-600mm c and they work perfectly well with the canon MK III extenders, great success on jupiter and saturn, moon etc i have also had good success with two 2x extenders on the 100-400mm for macro purposes. with x1.4 and x2 extenders on these lenses auto focus works fine, slower but focuses and locks, if you have enough light on the subject they still auto focus at ƒ57 very slowly with two x2 stacked, bare in mind this was an extreme macro set up with plenty of led lighting and using a mirrorless camera (M50)
Ty all for the replies and knowledge, will have to put together a new rig. I recieved the 2000D as a gift, works ok connected to a telescope, BUT I want a camera with alot of length for grab and go. Have to start saving the pennies for an R system. Thanks Again, h2o
out of interest what type of planetary images are you getting with the camera and tripod? i was testing the M50 + sigma 150-600mm with x2 on a single jpeg and this was the best i manages this august, i know i could do better with stack and track etc
make sure you check where the planets are in relationship to the earth, i waited till saturn and jupiter were the closest to earth, there is a bit of a wait for earth to chase down mars for its closest approach in december 2022
