So, I acquired a Canon T3i with an 18-55mm kit lens about a week ago and today was the first opportunity I'd had to get out and put it through its paces. I chose a local park, and was pretty favorably impressed with what I came away with. At times, I wished for a little more reach on the lens, but that in itself presented an interesting challenge. I intentionally sought out situations with potentially problematic lighting, the kind that looks interesting to the eye, but the camera often has trouble with, just so see what would happen.
