Hi All, I was using a 5D Mk3 with Yongnuo YN600EX flash. The ETTL function on the 5D was really great. I've recently bought a Canon R6, however the Yongnuo flash does not seem to work with ETTL. Can you recommend any flashes that are compatible with the R6? Cheers
The r5 and r6 are suppose to be back compatible with EX flash series so I would not think a yongnuo firmware issue exists. Do you have the newest version of the 600 from yongnuo? Its possibly a silly question, but you did set flash firing on to enable right via the menu right?
Thanks Johnsey, My Yongnuo's are YN600EX-RTII's so are pretty new. I must be missing something in the menu of the R6? In the 'External Speedlight Control;' menu, I have ... Flash Firing - Enable ETTL balance - Flash Priority ETTL II meter - Evaluative Contin flash ctrl - E-TTL each shot I did a test earlier with 2 cameras and 2 flashes: the R6, and EOS 5d MK3, a Yongnuo YN600EX flash and also a Canon Speedlight 580EX II. I shot the same scene - bounced flash, off a white wall in a room with tungsten lighting. Both cameras with both flashes on top and the 5d was fab. The R6 with the Yongnuo looked as though the flash hadn't fired (it had) and with the 580EX it was slightly over exposed. As I say, I must be missing something but at a loss as to what it is.
